“What does crazy look like in a world where monsters are real?” asked Moyna.
“That was the thing,” Colin laughed bitterly, “She stopped seeing them.”
“What do you mean?” asked Moyna, furrowing her eyebrows.
“I mean she would just block them out. I don’t know if it was out of horror of what our father had done or she just cracked after protecting us from Hell’s Legions for so many years, but she just stopped seeing them. We’d point out a demon and she’d see just a man. To her the worst thing that could happen to us was being kidnapped and raped. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine the only thing worth worrying about is being shot or raped.”
Moyna frowned, “No, I guess not.”
“Yeah, well in the end it got her killed and we were fucked over. I sooner than Alister, but I guess Hell won in the end.”
“Not completely,” said Moyna gesturing towards the bottle of Alister’s memories.
“You’ll have to pour one memory into his cup of tea at a time. You pour in too many and it could fry him.”
“Right.”
“And, Moyna, I don’t know which memories are in there. He’s either going to be his old self or…I don’t know.”
“I understand. I’m not expecting the old Alister back, just someone who recognizes me.”
“Yeah, well I can’t even guarantee that.”
“No one can.”
Colin looked down and sighed.
“Can I see him?”
Moyna’s face softened.
“He’s not going to recognize you. It’s harder to deal with than you think.”
“Actually, I think it’ll be the one time we’ll be able to have a decent conversation,” smirked Colin.
This is a short brain dropping I had for my story/other series, the Undesirables. This would happen later in the book. My medium, Alister, has lost all of his memories and his girlfriend, Moyna, who is half-banshee, is trying to help him cope. His brother, Colin, who is damned to Hell managed to collect some of the memories Hell took from Alister and visits Moyna to give her the memories. Colin and Alister don't get along, but Colin is still a somewhat decent brother.

Moyna, who is curious about Alister in general since the man wasn't exactly a sieve when he had all of his memories, she asks about Alister's life. Colin tells her about their mother, who went crazy after their father sold the two boys soul to the Devil for riches.

And that's about it. I'll develop this later when I have more time, but I needed to write it down before I lost it.

For as short as this is, it's pretty complex. This is one of those few works that deserves to be revisited a few times. Very enjoyable, overall!

I have to say, you explain that this incident happens later in the book, but this opening line is sure a grabber:

“What does crazy look like in a world where monsters are real?” asked Moyna.

I'm not certain how far you are into this project yet, but perhaps, you should consider re-editing the opening to include this line as a teaser of sorts, perhaps on its own page as an invitation to your readers before they delve deeper into the rest of the story.  Just a suggestion. I think it highlights the overall theme of the story pretty nicely.

Like the previous commenter, I'll be eagerly waiting for the rest of this once it develops further!
